B使用步骤

How to turn your voice into MIDI

Press Record, allow the microphone, and hum or sing one note at a time. The pitch line draws as you go and turns into notes when you stop. Turn on Snap to key to pull stray notes into the scale, then export a .mid file. Everything runs in your browser, free.

  1. 第 1 步

    Record or upload

Hold the 10-second hum button for a quick idea, press Record for a longer take, or upload a voice memo you already have.

  2. 第 2 步

Watch the pitch, then the notes

A coral pitch curve follows your voice while a needle shows how many cents sharp or flat you are. When you stop, the curve is cut into notes and refined once more with Basic Pitch.

  3. 第 3 步

    Snap, fix and export

Pick a key and turn on Snap to key, drag any wrong note into place, then download the MIDI or open it as sheet music.

C你能得到什么

What you get

  • F.01

    Live pitch tracking

See your pitch as a line while you sing, with a ±50 cent needle for the note you are on. It is a tuner and a recorder in one.

  • F.02

    Snap to key

Choose a key and notes slide into the nearest scale tone. Stray notes get corrected without changing the shape of your melody.

  • F.03

    10-second hum button

Hold to record, let go to transcribe. It is built for phones and for ideas that arrive while you are away from your desk.

  • F.04

    Refined after you stop

Once the take ends, Spotify’s open-source Basic Pitch model runs a second pass in your browser to tidy note starts and lengths.

  • F.05

    Fully free, fully local

No account, no credits, no upload. The microphone audio is processed on your device and never sent to our servers.

  • F.06

    Sheet music and transposing

Send the melody to MIDI to Sheet Music for a lead sheet, or to Transpose Sheet Music to fit another singer or instrument.

D谁在用

Who uses Voice to MIDI

  • Songwriters

Hum a hook into your phone and get notes you can drop into a DAW. You keep the idea even if you do not play an instrument well.

  • Producers

Sing a bassline or a synth lead instead of clicking it in. Snap it to the song’s key and the MIDI is ready to drive any instrument.

  • Singers and choir members

Check your pitch on a phrase with the cent needle, then see the notes you actually sang. It is a quick way to hear where you drift sharp or flat.

  • Teachers and students

Turn a sung exercise into notation for ear-training. Students can compare what they meant to sing with what came out.

E准确度与限制

How accurate is it?

One voice singing one note at a time is the easiest kind of transcription there is, so a clean hum in a quiet room converts well. Vibrato and slides get rounded to the nearest note. Chords and harmonies cannot be captured, because the tracker follows a single pitch. Measured results will be published at launch.

素材效果预期表现
Humming in a quiet room良好Steady tone and soft starts are easy to track.
Singing on “da” or “la”良好The consonant marks each note start clearly.
Singing with lyrics一般Breathy consonants and quick syllables can split or merge notes.
Heavy vibrato or slides一般Pitch movement is rounded to the nearest note; review the long notes.
Whistling测试中The tone is clean but very high; you may want to move it down an octave.
Singing over a backing track较差The tracker hears the music too. Record your voice alone.
F技巧

Tips for better results

The tracker hears everything the microphone hears. Give it one clear voice, and it gives you clean notes back.

  1. Record in a quiet room. Closets full of clothes make good vocal booths.
  2. Hum or sing one note at a time. Leave a tiny gap between repeated notes.
  3. Stay about 6 inches (15 cm) from the microphone, and do not cup it.
  4. Sing on “da” or “la” so each note has a clear start.
  5. Turn off music, fans and notifications while you record.
  6. Use headphones if you want to hear a click or a backing track.
  7. Turn on Snap to key after recording, not before, so you can see what you really sang.

Voice to MIDI vs. desktop software and open-source demos

Desktop software means DAWs and plugins with an audio-to-MIDI or melody-to-MIDI feature. Open-source demos means research models with a web page, such as Spotify’s Basic Pitch, which runs our refinement pass. We list features, not quality claims.

I详解

How live pitch tracking works

Your voice repeats a waveform pattern hundreds of times a second. The pitch tracker looks at short windows of audio, finds how often the pattern repeats, and converts that rate into a frequency. A clarity score says how confident it is. Breaths, consonants and room noise score low and are ignored.

The frequency is then measured against the nearest note in cents. There are 100 cents in a half step, so a reading of +20 means you are a little sharp of the note on screen. That is what the needle shows while you sing.

When you stop, a median filter smooths out brief jumps, and the curve is cut into notes wherever the pitch moves to a new half step and stays there for at least 80 milliseconds. A second pass with Basic Pitch then cleans up note starts and lengths.

Snap to key: fixing pitch without flattening the tune

Most people drift a little when they hum. A note meant as an E can land closer to an E♭, and a plain nearest-note rounding writes the wrong note. Snap to key solves that by allowing only the notes of the scale you pick.

If your melody is in G major, only G, A, B, C, D, E and F♯ are allowed. A hummed note that lands between F and F♯ is written as F♯, not F. The contour of the melody stays the same; only the out-of-key pitches move. If you are not sure which key you are in, check it with the Key Finder first.

Leave Snap to key off for blues, modal or chromatic lines where the “wrong” notes are on purpose. You can always drag single notes into place instead.

Hum, sing or whistle?

Humming gives the steadiest tone and the fewest surprises, which makes it a good default. Singing on a syllable like “da” adds a clear consonant at the start of each note, which helps when you sing fast repeated notes.

Singing the real lyrics works, but soft consonants and quick syllables can split one long note into two or merge two short ones. Whistling has a very clean tone but sits an octave or two above where you would sing the same tune, so plan to transpose it down.

From a hummed idea to a finished part

Once the melody is in MIDI, it is just notes. Drop the .mid into GarageBand, Logic Pro or Ableton Live and play it on any instrument. Quantize it to your song’s tempo if you want it tight; leave it loose if you want it to sound sung.

For a lead sheet, send the file to MIDI to Sheet Music. To hand the tune to a clarinet, sax or a singer with a different range, run it through Transpose Sheet Music. The melody you hummed on the bus becomes a part someone else can read.

Yes. Press Record on this page, allow the microphone, and hum one note at a time. The pitch line draws as you hum and becomes MIDI notes when you stop. Snap the notes to a key if any drifted, then download the .mid file. It is free and runs in your browser.

The pitch line and the cent needle update live while you sing, so you can see the melody as it happens. The final notes are cut from that line when you stop, then refined once more with Basic Pitch in your browser. The MIDI file is ready a moment after you press Stop.

Turn on Snap to key and choose your song’s key. Every note slides to the nearest scale tone, which fixes most hummed notes that drifted sharp or flat. For anything left over, drag the note up or down on the piano roll. If you are unsure of the key, try the Key Finder.

Hum, or sing on a syllable like “da” or “la”. Both give a steady tone and a clear start to each note, which is what the tracker needs. Lyrics can split or merge notes on soft consonants. Whistling tracks cleanly but sits very high, so you may need to transpose it down.

Yes. Open the MIDI in MIDI to Sheet Music to get a single-staff score with the key and time signature detected, then export it as a PDF or a MusicXML file for MuseScore, Dorico or Sibelius. Quantize the melody first so the rhythm reads cleanly on the page.

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari all support microphone recording on desktop and mobile, as long as the page runs over HTTPS. If the browser blocks the microphone, click the lock icon in the address bar, allow the microphone for this site, and press Record again.

No. The microphone audio is analyzed inside your browser and never sent to our servers. Pitch tracking, note detection and the Basic Pitch refinement all run on your device. If you close the tab without exporting, the recording is gone. Uploaded voice memos are handled the same way, locally.
